ERROR ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION (THE STUDY WAS CONDUCTED AT SMK N 2 MANADO)
Abstrak
The purpose of this research is to get information concerning students’ mastery of English pronunciation at SMK N 2 Manado especially related to pronunciation of consonant cluster, silent consonant some of vowel and diphthongs. The subject of this research is the students of first year of SMK especially electro department of the first class and represented by 40 students. The method used in this research was descriptive research in which, the primary data is the poem which verbally pronounced by the students whereas the secondary sources are some related books used as the references. The data of this research were analyzed by applying error analysis steps. The result of this research can be concluded that some of the students mispronouncing the consonant cluster, silent consonant some of vowels and diphthongs. They have problem with the sound that do not exist in their mother tongue or Indonesian language. So, based on the result of this research, it is suggested to English teacher at SMK N 2 Manado to improve the quality of teaching and give a lot of practice to the students. This can improve mispronunciation in order to avoid misunderstanding.
