THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE METHOD IN ENGLISH LEARNING PROCESS AT SMP KATOLIK SANTO XAVERIUS PINELENG IN GRADE IX

The object of this research is to implement the Total Physical Response method in the process of learning English in grade IX at SMP Katolik Santo Xaverius Pineleng.
In this study the authors used one of the nine methods of teaching English namely Total Physical Response. The reason the author choose this method was because the author adjusted it to the research object. Then the author used Classroom Action Researcher as the procedures in applying this method. The previous author conducted a pretest first them in cycle 1 at the first meeting the author applied the Total Physical Response method in the process of teaching English.
Based on the results of the research, it can be seen how the improvements and differences when using the Total Physical Response method. This case can be known in the implementation of the pretest and the posttest. The pretest was carried out before carrying out the teaching and learning process while the posttest was carried out after 2 meetings in each cycle. In carrying out the pretest, it can be seen that students’ abilities in learning and responding to English Lesson in the class. After applying the Total Physical Response method it can be seen from the implementation of the posttest, that the progress of learning and responding to students in learning English lesson. The results of using the Total Physical Response in learning process are effective for students.
